Debt collection notice (letter of demand)
The deadline must be at least 10 days from sending (section 10(3) of the Debt Collection Act).
Next reminder with a fee
There must be at least 10 days between the reminders you charge a fee for, and at most 3 of them (section 9 b of the Interest Act).
Interest when there is no fixed due date
If the due date was not fixed in advance, late-payment interest runs once 30 days have passed from the day you sent a payment request (section 3(2) of the Interest Act).
Objection to a payment order
The debtor has 14 days from service to object. If there is no objection, the payment order can be endorsed and used as the basis for enforcement.
Important
The deadlines are the minimums under the rules. Allowing a little extra time is a good idea, and keep evidence of when you sent the letters. The deadline for objecting to a payment order is stated in the court's letter, and that is the one that applies.
